UV printing ink is a form of ink that uses ultra-violet lights to dry the ink as it is printed. Our printing press sprays the UV inks in tiny dots onto the paper, and then immediately after the ink is applied the paper is exposed to Ultraviolet light (UV) light. This process cures the UV ink immediately and does not allow the ink dots to spread out (what is called dot gain in the printing industry) once printed and gives much finer detail on the printed posters.

Conventional offset printing uses the same tiny dots when printing in full color, but most offset presses do not use UV inks. Even the ones that do, will get dot gain. Conventional presses apply the ink to the printing plates, then the printing plates transfer the ink to what is called a blanket. The blanket then transfers the image from the blanket to the paper. Each time this happens, each printing dot gets squished, becomes larger, and expands (dot gain) from the pressure of the transfer from the printing plate to the blanket, and then to the paper. This process also pushes the ink into the paper, and the ink become less vibrant.
